Studio Recordings for RCA
June 10, 1958: RCA's Studio B, Nashville
After finally settling on the release schedule, Steve Sholes continued to push for more sessions before Elvis shipped out to Germany in September, and the Colonel reluctantly agreed to both a recording and a photo session during a two-week furlough in June. Hit singles were the top priority, and Freddy Bienstock contacted his writers for material strong enough for single release.
"(Now And Then There's)A Fool Such As I," was familiar to all, and a special favorite of Tom Diskin's from the days when he and the Colonel had managed Hank Snow (who had the original hit with it in 1953). Neither of Elvis' companies owned any publishing on the song, which made it an unlikely single candidate, but Diskin felt it had potential and made a very uncharacteristic pitch to the Aberbachs to make a deal on the song. Chet Atkins's rhythm guitar lent real excitement to the lilting melody, giving it the kind of distinctive flavor that Elvis' treatment of "Your Cheatin' Heart" could have used back in February. After requesting a small adjustment on the echo, Elvis now leapt confidently into "I Got Stung."
In the early morning hours of June 11 Elvis Presley walked out of the studio, leaving the responsibility for his future recording career in the hands of Tom Parker and Steve Sholes. He'd done everything he could; now it was up to these two men to make sure he'd have a career to return to.
     As the U.S.S.
Randall left the Brooklyn army terminal on September 22, 1958, the reality of Colonel Tom Parker's new role set in: All at once he was a manager without an artist. Even though Elvis had been inducted into the armed services in March he was still very much in the public eye, and the Colonel had to deal with continual demands from the press for interviews and photographs while Elvis was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. There was some good news, Steve Sholes's uninterrupted pressure for more recordings had led to the successful June sessions.

(Now And The There's) A Fool Such As I/I Need Your Love Tonight.  On The Charts: 15 weeks, beginning March 23, 1959. Sales went gold with one million shipped one day after release.

We pay for our fun and the pleasure of many... While 'Elvis Chicago Style'  steals the fun and the work!! You will find almost every animation & a lot of graphicsWE'VE made on this website. Our names have been cut off, ruining the grahics. This person shows no respect for other's work........It would be different if he asked, then he would have no need to hide his wrong doings! We spend a lot of hours making these graphics. We pay for this website and the programs we use to make the graphics and just purchased more web space. Whether these are considered Public Domain or not, this is not right! Do Not steal them. Either ask and leave the file names intact giving proper credit back or make your own. This is mainly directed at him.

(Now and then there's a fool such as I)
Pardon me, if I’m sentimental
When we say goodbye
Don't be angry with me should I cry
When you're gone, yet I’ll dream
A little dream as years go by
Now and then there's a fool such as I

Now and then there's a fool such as I am over you
You taught me how to love
And now you say that we are through

I'm a fool, but I’ll love you dear
Until the day I die
Now and then there's a fool such as I

Now and then there's a fool such as I am over you
You taught me how to love
And now you say that we are through

I'm a fool, but I’ll love you dear
Until the day I die
Now and then there's a fool such as I
Now and then there's a fool such as I
Now and then there's a fool such as I
