"And I Love You So" was often performed live in concert. Linda was at the September 6, 1976 Huntsville, Alabama matinee show. I'm sure you've seen these famous pictures of Elvis wearing a hat and sunshades, now you'll know where they came from. This concert was called 'Still Rocking The Nation.' Instead of using the version from the album, I took "And I Love You So" from LP: 'Forever In Love.' Recorded March 10, 1975: RCA's Studio C, Hollywood. First released on LP: Today. This is Linda's story.....

As part of the story about the hat, I drove from Atlanta to Huntsville to the show without a ticket.  I waited outside the arena and finally found a ticket from a scalper for $30.  The most expensive tickets back then were about $12.50.  My ticket was on the 7th row center so I was very pleased to get it.  I walked up to the front of the stage during intermission and talked with the security guard sitting by the stage.  I showed the guard the hat (and I also had some sunshades with EP's name on them).  I told the guard I was from Atlanta and would very much like to walk up to the stage and give EP the hat and sunshades during the show.  Well, the guard starting telling me he couldn't let me do that because then everyone else would want to do it.  I started pleading with him, and he asked me where I was sitting.  I told him just back on the 7th row center and the guard finally told me he would let me walk up and give the hat/sunshades to Elvis.  So I was very, very lucky that day.  I went to the concert with no ticket, and ended up on the 7th row and gave EP the hat/sunshades.  Here is a picture of Elvis wearing the sunshades and holding the hat. If you look real close, you can see his name in sequences on the bottom of the right lense (our right, EP's left).  You will also notice that EP's belt buckle is missing. (You will see this in the animation) It was just hanging on and about ready to fall off.  A girl in the audience hollered at EP that he was about to lose his buckle.  So he called her up to the stage and plucked it the rest of the way off and gave it to her.  It was about a $2,500 belt buckle from what I'm told. And unfortunately, I have heard that Elvis was in very poor shape at that show and really didn't want to be there.  So sad.

Elvisly, Linda
And I love you so,
The people ask me how,
How I've lived till now
I tell them I don't know

I guess they understand
How lonely life has been
But life began again
The day you took my hand

And yes I know how lonely life can be
Shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around me

And you love me too
Your thoughts are just for me
You set my spirit free
I'm happy that you do

The book of life is brief
Once the page is read
All but love is dead
This is my believe

And yes I know how lonely life can be
Shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around me
