Studio Sessions for RCA
December 10-16, 1973: Stax Studios, Memphis

On the final night Elvis' voice sounded stronger and clear than it had at the beginning , as if the sessions themselves had been a kind of healing process. Accompanied by exceptional playing from Pete Hallin, Elvis sang with passion and conviction on Dottie Rambo's spiritual number "If That Isn't Love."
Elvis Presley's career had never seen a year of greater highs and lows than 1973. From the triumph of
Aloha From Hawaii Elvis had gone into a tailspin of failure on all fronts: plunging record sales, divorce, problems with his health and his weight. Now, just days before Christmas, at the conclusion of a set of sessions forced on him by his record company, there once again was a reason for hope. Felton Jarvis had recorded eighteen new songs in a week, and Elvis, Tom Parker, and RCA could have been forgiven for believing that another turnaround was still within reach.

                                                The Complete Recording Sessions
                                                           by Ernst Jorgenson

He left the splendor of heaven
Knowing His destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down His life for me

And if that isn't love
Then the ocean is dry
There's no stars in the sky
And the little sparrows can't fly
Yeah if that isn't love
Then heaven's a myth
There's no feeling like this
If that isn't love

Even in death He remembered
The thief hanging by His side
Then he spoke of love and compassion
And He took him to paradise

And if that isn't love
Then the ocean is dry
There's no stars in the sky
And the little sparrows can't fly
Yeah if that isn't love
Then heaven's a myth
There's no feeling like this
If that isn't love It's got to be love
