Studio Sessions for RCA
June 4-8. 1970: RCA's Studio B, Nashville
June 6, 1970, the third night of the recording sessions began with Elvis taking everyone by surprise by picking up an acoustic guitar and playing the introductions to the familiar mid-60's country hit "It Ain't No Big Thing." Caught off guard, Felton called for a new start, and Elvis abashedly asked Chip Young to take over. The group fell in effortlessly on the midtempo number, but at take six Elvis was banging away again on the acoustic guitar, shouting "I didn't make it on playing a guitar: over the jam that had instantly developed. The take broke down, but even as Felton was trying to steer Elvis back to the song his singer was off again. This time it was a line from Ernie K-Doe's "Mother In Law" that prompted Briggs and McCoy to leap in, to Elvis' amusement: "Don't take much to spark you guts off, man. Couple of words and you're off and running." Finally they returned to the business at hand, and after one more false start the second full take of "It Ain't No Big Thing" became the master.
First released on LP "Love Letters From Elvis" 1971

You’re losing interest in me and it's showin'
It ain't no big thing but it's growin'
The pain of heartbreak I've just started knowin'
Well, it ain't no big thing but it's growin'

Every day the hurt grows bigger than before
But I'll pretend I don't know this
If I can hold you one day more
You've got the look of someone who is goin'
You're gonna leave me and it's showin'
A little tear I can feel start to flow
It ain't no big thing but it's growin'

Well every day the hurt grows bigger than before
But I'll pretend I don't know this
Well, if I can hold you one day more
You've got the look of someone who is goin'
Well, you're gonna leave me and it's showin'
A little tear I can feel start to flow
Well it ain't no big thing but it's growing
No, it ain't no big thing but it's growing
