| "It's A Sin" was recorded at RCA's Sudio B, Nashville, March 12, 1961. First released on Something For Everybody June, 1961. Elvis saw Eddy Arnold (backed by the Jordanaires) perform "It's A Sin," at Ellis Auditorium in 1954---on the very occasion he'd told Gordon Stoker he wanted the quartet to back him up someday. It took a while to sort out the harmonies and speed up the arrangement to the old "heart ballad," but the second full take became the master. The aim at any Elvis session was to balance up-tempo material with ballads, and for the most part the rock 'n' roll songs were covers while the love songs represented original material. (The Complete Recording Sessions by Ernst Jorgensen) I love this song and wanted to do it for a long time. Another beautiful, but sad song. I'm sure a lot of you can relate to the words to this song, and all that's left are the memories....... |

| It's a sin, my darling How I love you Because I know Our love could never be It's a sin To keep this memory of you When silence proves That you've forgotten me The dreams I built for us Has tumbled Each promise broken Like my heart It's a sin, my darling How I love you So much in love And yet so far apart I'm sure you're happy with another Who shares the love I could not win Why pretend that you can live without me When deep inside I know that it's a sin Words & Music by Rose - Turner |
