ELVIS PRESLEY
EP
Ivory Joe Hunter, one of Elvis's favorite songwriters and performers, had visited Graceland and played Elvis a new song that Elvis fell in love with---"My Wish Came True." Elvis was passionate about recording the song, if perhaps more out of friendship and admiration for Hunter than for anything outstanding about the song. This was where he wanted to use Millie Kirkham's soaring soprano; seven months pregnant, Millie found the young star excessively polite as he arranged a chair for her before beginning the Hunter song. Its hymnlike quality was unlike Ivory Joe's better-known R&B and pop material, and they labored mightily for several hours before giving up. Steve Sholes was close to despair, he put most of the blame on the band, whose inadequacy was only confirmed in his mind when it took them twenty-nine takes to get "My Wish Came True" the next day. The result wasn't even particularly outstanding---it was usable, certainly, but failed to fulfill any of Elvis's lofty ambitions for it. "My Wish Came True" was released as Single B-side in 1958 reaching number twelve on the charts.

Personal note: I loved this song when it was first released and do to this day.
"My Wish Came True" is the first 45 record I recieved from a boy which as most teenagers, thought was the love of my life.  I  had every 45 released by Elvis, these were all taken many years ago along with other items. I did replace  "My Wish Came True" and still have the memories.
My Wish Came True
My wish came true
When I met you
I've searched and searched
My whole life through

There's just one thing
Here before we start
Don't say you care
It break my heart

When you speak of love
Please be sincere
For if you play with love
It can bring tears my dear

My wish came true
To my surprise
When you stood there before my eyes

And when my heart
Started beating fast
T'was then I knew
I found true love at last
