Studio sessions for RCA February 2 - 8, 1976
The Jungle Room Graceland, Memphis
The plan to record in Las Vegas
had fallen through, and the stale-mate that followed was only broken when an old
idea resurfaced, recording at Graceland to try and get Elvis back to recording
and honor his RCA contract. RCA had once promised to build Elvis a studio and
now they would just bring
their recording truck to Graceland so Elvis could work in his own home. There
were some problems before the Jungle Room was ready and also the recording truck
had to be towed through the gates of Graceland because the transmission had died
150 miles outside of Memphis. But Elvis was thrilled with the setup and he
wanted to keep the room just as it was when they finished recording.
Hurt was recorded February 5, 1976
and was first released as a single.
The version I used here is take 2.

I'm so
hurt to think that you lied to me
I'm hurt way down deep inside of me
You said our love was true
And we'll never, never part
Now you've got someone new
And it breaks my heart
I'm hurt, much more than you'll ever know
Yes darling, I'm so hurt
Because I still love you so
Even though you hurt me
Like nobody else could ever do
I would never hurt, hurt you
