Elvis opened in Vegas on January 26, 1971, accompanied by yet another death threat. There were flamboyant new outfits (a dark, two-piece "Cisco Kid" ensemble, with silver studs was probably the most spectacular) and a new song list that once again leaned heavily on ballads and high-lighted the inspirational. Although he had the flu during part of the engagement, and there were criticism even from the fans of some of his "off" nights, there was no question of his high spirits.

                                          January 27, 1971
                                 International Hotel, Las Vegas

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the International. My name is Frankie Avalon. I'd like to tell you, those that got kissed, that I have the flu. And I'll be around in the back later. I usually make the rounds, up in the balcony, you know.

"Only Believe" was released on several CD's including the newly released "Christmas Peace." This perticular version came from "All Things Are Possible," a live version from January 27, 1971 performed at the International Hotel. Most of the photos used on this page were taken from the CD covers. The song was edited by my son Don.
                                 Dedicated To Bert & Tamara
Lordy only believe, only believe
All things are possible
If you'll only believe
My Lordy, only believe, yes only believe
All things are possible
If you'll only believe

I met God one morning, my soul feeling bad
Heart heavy laden, I felt fire down in
Well He lifted all my burdens, yeh! right now I'm feeling glad
All things are possible
If you'll only believe

I believe, yeh! I believe,
All things are possible
If you'll only believe
