A few days ago, I received the following email from Dale. "Don't Ask Me Why" is in Loving Memory of her late husband. These are her words:

Robert E. Cook... born 3-19-40 and died 4-25-99.. way too soon... miss him still...

He died 3 years ago from brain cancer and Elvis was very special to both of us... In some way when I play the songs I feel his presence and know he is listening with me...

"Don't Ask Me Why" recorded January 16, 1958 -Radio Recorders for  King Creole, released as single B, flip side "Hard Headed Woman" June 1958. On The Charts: Billboards Top 100, nine weeks peaked at #28, Rhythm & Blues, peaked at #2. It was recorded in two versions, one for the movie session and one for potential record release, because Elvis felt it was strong enough to justify such an approach.
I'll go on loving you
Don't ask me why
Don't know what else to do
Don't ask me why

How sad my heart would be
If you should go
Though you're not good for me
I want you so

It's not the kind
Of love I dream about
But it's the kind
That I can't live without

You're all I'm longing for
Don't say good-bye
I need you more and more
Don't ask me why
I need you more and more
Don't ask me why
