Alt. Take 10 - 05/13/1965, Recorded For Frankie And Johnny - A United Artist Picture This simple country joys of "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" were Elvis' home turf, and he navigates the simple circle of chords with consummate ease. Considered strong enough for a single release, it was placed on the flip side of "Frankie and Johnny." The song was written by (or credited to) Joy Byers, future wife of Columbia Records producer Bob Johnston. If, as Johnston now contends, he had an involvement in writing for Elvis, he had every reason to hide behind a pseudonym: his production of Patti Page's "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" was high in the charts, and writing Elvis songs as a sideline would have been a serious conflict of interest. Johnston later produced Bob Dylan's NASHVILLE SKYLINE album, and was immortalized in Dylan's unguarded slate, "Is it rolling, Bob?" The movie "Frankie And Johnny" opened March 31, 1966, running time, 87 minutes. Elvis Presley .... Johnny, Donna Douglas .... Frankie, Harry Morgan .... Cully, Sue Ane Langdon .... Mitzi, Nancy Kovack .... Nellie Bly, Audrey Christie .... Peg, Robert Strauss .... Blackie, Anthony Eisley .... Braden, Joyce Jameson .... Abigail.
This is another of my personal favorites.
